It was announced Wednesday that Rolex and Patek Philippe have partnered to design the new area of Goeres Horlogerie dedicated to these two brands.

Goeres Horlogerie was first established in 1956 by Raymond Goeres, the father of the company's current head, when he opened up a small shop in the Belair districct of Luxembourg City to showcase pretigious Swiss watches. In 2007, under the direction of Raymond's son Robert, the shop was moved to the Ville Haute region, where it still stands to this day at 22 Rue Philippe II.

According to the company, the move marked a new era for Goeres Horlogeries, inciting company growth and leading to the creation of "an environment that meets the expectations of customers". The beginning of 2016 brought with it more changes and developments, notably the in-depth transformation of the store into an exclusive space for Rolex and Patek Philippe. This represents the first time that the architecture departments of Rolex and Patek Philippe have partnered to create an exclusive space.

"These large watch manufacturers like being represented in a unique store, that perfectly reflects their respective identities," commented Robert Goeres. "For their part, the client also appreciates this change because in crossing the threshold of the establishment, they know that it will turn the act of buying into a special event."

For decades, the shop functioned as a one-person company drawing on third parties for watch maintenance, before a workshop was opened in 2003 initially intended for the exclusive maintenance of Rolex watches - a novelty in the Grand Duchy at the time. In 2005, Goeres Horlogerie obtained approval to begin servicing Patek Philippe watches, too.

Rolex has been involved in the design, manufacturing, distribution and servicing of wristwatches since 1905, when it was founded by Alfred Davis and Hans Wilsdorf in London. It has since become known as one of the world's most powerful global brands, according to Forbes. The roots of Swiss watch manufacturer Patek Philippe & Co. go even further back, to 1851. It holds some of the most complicated mechanical watches to its name, and is considered one of the most prestigious brands in the industry.

Goeres Horlogerie was the first retail business to be awarded the 'Service Qualitéit Lëtzebuerg' label, and claims to adhere to the principles of the Institut National pour le Développement durable et la Responsabilité sociale des Entreprises (INDR).
