On Monday 31 August 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported that three driving bans were issued in the past 24 hours for drink-driving offences in Oberkorn, Capellen and near Bertrange.
According to the police, at around 16:30 on Sunday 30 August, several road users reported a vehicle driving erratically between Dippach and Bertrange, repeatedly braking and accelerating sharply, and at times entering the opposite lane. A police patrol later located the vehicle and its driver at the driver's home address in Bertrange. The man showed clear signs of alcohol consumption and refused to take a breathalyser test. He subsequently became increasingly uncooperative towards the officers and insulted them. Due to his condition, he was taken into custody to sober up. A driving ban was imposed and the relevant reports were drawn up.
At around 16:45 on the same day, a traffic accident involving several vehicles occurred on Rue Pierre Martin in Oberkorn. A driver entered a one-way street in the wrong direction and also collided with an oncoming vehicle there. When subsequently attempting to leave the scene of the accident, he hit three other parked vehicles while reversing. A breathalyser test was positive. It was also established that the driver was already subject to a driving ban. A further driving ban was imposed and a report was drawn up.
Moreover, at around 02:10 on Monday 31 August a police patrol noticed a vehicle on Route d’Arlon in Capellen whose driver ran a red light and nearly collided with the police vehicle. During the subsequent check, the driver showed clear signs of alcohol consumption. A breathalyser test was positive. A driving ban was subsequently imposed. A report was drawn up.
