Delhaize supermarkets have announced that they have appointed Tanguy t'Serstevens as Country Manager for Luxembourg - he took up the reins of the new post back in September 2015 - and that they are planning a significant expansion in the Grand Duchy.
With a strong background in the retail sector and over 18 years experience in key functions at Delhaize, the 46 year-old Belgian national places proximity, quality and innovation in his development strategy. With enthusiasm and energy he has led the team at Luxembourg Delhaize to grow its store network including through affiliates. He has taken Luxembourgish courses and continues to forge links with the local community; he is committed to Luxembourg consumers to provide a convenience offering healthy and sustainable products and to meet the needs of each and every community.
He stated "Economics, trade, infrastructure, real estate and culture, Luxembourgers do not lack inventiveness and the means of their ambitions for their future. It is my great pleasure to be able to take my turn on the development of Delhaize in a favourable environment. Present for 20 years in Luxembourg, our brand is well known to Luxembourgers for the quality of its products and its rich assortment (of products). We are proud to be considered as the local grocer that meets the needs of each and every community. This strategy of proximity is our strength and we intend to expand our presence in the Grand Duchy in the coming years, particularly as a franchise. We are also looking for affiliated candidates to become true partners of our brand."
He added "We are working every day to improve the nutritional and taste quality (of our products). We are also constantly looking for new Luxembourg "nuggets" to offer our customers. Luxembourgers and expatriates are very eager for discoveries and very receptive to innovation that makes a Delhaize brand of choice. And with our excellent price positioning, everyone can have fun".
Delhaize already operates 45 stores across Luxembourg (Delhaize supermarkets, AD, Proxy, Shop&Go) and foresees a significant growth over the coming years across the Grand Duchy by way of a firm development strategy.
