St George’s International School in Luxembourg will be sending a team to participate in the COBIS Games in Dubai next week.
The COBIS Games were introduced by John Bagust, Head of Primary Schools for the Prague British School (PBS), for KS2 students and the inaugural COBIS Games was hosted at PBS in May 2012. In May 2014 a Secondary COBIS Games for KS3 students was introduced. The aim of the Secondary COBIS Games is to provide the students with an opportunity to participate in a safe and competitive international sporting event that is open to all COBIS member schools around the world. As the number of competitors are limited at most host venues COBIS held a draw for all interested Schools and St George’s was short-listed to participate.
Carefully selected athletes from St George’s International School in years 7 and 8 will be travelling to Dubai in the UAE on Tuesday 8 March, 2016 to participate in the next COBIS Games. The athlete’s stamina will be tested whilst competing in swimming, athletics and football over 3 consecutive days.
The championship awards ceremony and Gala Dinner will be hosted by Dubai College on their last evening which will allow them to unwind and celebrate their results.
The team have prepared with determination for the upcoming games and are excited to be representing their school.
