The municipality of Clervaux has announced that the Benelux car park, located in the town’s centre, will open on Wednesday 17 July 2024.
The car park has two levels, with 45 parking spaces available for visitors on the ground floor; six spaces are reserved for people with special needs. A further ten spaces will be equipped for electric vehicles soon. On the uncovered roof, there are 60 parking spaces. Visitors can park free of charge for the first two hours.
On the ground floor, the car park unveils a 40-metre-long fresco on the main themes of the municipality of Clervaux, created by Lucile Matter, Céline Kriebs and Loïc Lusnia, three artists from Metz, at the request of the Cité de l'image.
The completion of the Benelux Parkhouse is part of the "Clervaux 2030 - Masterplan centre-ville" catalogue of measures, drawn up in 2017. Place Benelux is a central square where many visitors to the centre of the town of Clervaux arrive and is the gateway to the town’s centre. The two-storey car park, which has more than 100 spaces, has been surrounded by wooden panels and was designed to blend with its surroundings.
Just in time for the summer period, visitors to Clervaux town centre can now use the new car park, although some minor work still needs to be completed over the next few weeks, the municipality noted.
The undeveloped area in front of the Parkhouse will become the new home of the Tourist Info Centre in 2025. The relocation of the Tourist Info Centre is scheduled for June 2025.
The next phases of urban development, planned for the coming years, will aim to improve the quality of life by developing the entire square as a shared space, to ease traffic congestion and enhance the attractiveness of the town’s centre.
