The City of Luxembourg has created a programme of physical and sports activities - "Sports for all - Seniors (active 55+)" - for people aged 55 and over living in the capital or another municipality. The idea is rooted in scientific research which demonstrates that regular physical activity improves physical and intellectual capacities, and prevents age-related diseases or has positive effects on their development.

The programme is tailored to the needs, expectations and abilities of seniors, allowing them to participate in group activities, facilitates social exchanges and increases the fun in moving. It includes more than forty physical and sports activities reserved for the elderly. All these activities, such as aqua gym, soft gym, gentle exercise, nordic walking or dance for seniors, are adapted to their physical abilities and their rhythm.

Starting on Monday 24 April, the programme will be expanded with new outdoor sports activities for the spring and summer periods

These include weekly courses:

Boules and petanque, every Tuesday afternoon in Kockelscheuer

Nordic-walking on Monday morning in Bonnevoie
