Tomorrow morning, the Butterfly Garden at Grevenmacher opens its wings again with a transformed garden ready to receive the public for a fresh season.
The 600 square metre gardens are climate controlled to create a perfect environment for the 50 different species of butterfly that call it home and flit among the wide range of tropical plants and flowers.
Information panels in English, French and German guide visitors on their way through the garden and associated breeding rooms, providing details about the butterflies, their life cycles and living habits. In addition, each terrarium has its own small panel with information about its inhabitants. The plants of the garden are identifiable thanks to the associated slates.
An outdoor terrace café offers Fairtrade tea and coffee, as well as pastries, cakes, pies and snacks, including bagels.
The Butterfly Garden is a protected workshop of the Yolande Coop (elisabeth group), which employs people with intellectual disabilities. They work in a completely autonomous manner and are true experts of the Butterfly Garden.
The Butterfly Garden is open Monday to Sunday from 09:30 to 17:00 from tomorrow until November this year.
Entrance is €8 for adults, and €5 for children up to 12 years of age.
