Belarusian pianist, Tatsiana Zelianko, presents a contemporary piano recital at Neumünster on Friday 7 April, featuring a cycle of six pianistic “miniatures” that range between post-impressionism and imaginary folklore, composed by Zelianko for Neumünster, and performed by Russian pianist Alexandra Matvievskaya. She will also play Frida Kahlo, the Preludes op. 4 of the young composer and selected pieces by Gabriel Fauré.
Zelianko trained as a solo pianist and chamber ensemble artist at the Belarus State Academy of Music in Minsk until 2005, when she started with the Philharmonie de Brest in Belarus.
After moving to Luxembourg in 2008, she moved to contemporary composition and began to study with Alex Mullenbach and Claude Lenners in the Conservatory of Luxembourg. She has since written several commissions in collaboration with Noise Watchers Unlimited, CAPe, Mersch National Center for Literature, CID-Femmes, Luxembourg Philharmonic, and others.Her scores have also been performed in other countries such as France, the United Kingdom, Belarus and Bulgaria.
In 2015 she wrote several state commissions, including one from the Philharmonie Luxembourg as part of the Festival "Rainy Days" with the Cinematheque Co-production of the City of Luxembourg. The work was composed for a cinema-concert on Alfred Hitchcock's film "The Lodger", and her worldwide creation was performed by United Instruments of Lucilin under the direction of David Reiland on November 25, 2015 at the Philharmonie Luxembourg.
Currently, Zelianko works in collaboration with the Solistes Européens Luxembourg for whom she is composing a new work, commissioned by the Ministry of Culture, which will be performed at the Philharmonie in November 2017.
She is invited as a composer of honour in International Musicians Festival in Ouessant and will present its musical creations interpreted among others by the symphonic orchestra of Brittany in August 2018.
