LuxTram has announced that the first tram tracks have been laid in Luxembourg, on the first section of the line that will connect LuxExpo with the Pont rouge (Red Bridge).

Yesterday, Wednesday 24 August 2016, saw the first tram tracks being laid and welded by a process of aluminothermy.

The welding uses a molten metal method that allows two rails to be mechanically bound together.
