Marc Hansen and Ian Munn Win 1st National Curling Doubles Championship

At the week-end, the Luxembourg Curling Union organised the first ever National Doubles Championship at the ice rink in Kockelscheuer.

This new competition is to be played at the Olympic Games in South-Korea 2018 for the first time with teams comprising one woman and one man. In Luxembourg, it is played with a slightly different format, of either one man and one woman, two women or two men.

In a Round Robin format, the 4 teams played against each other with the results being very close in all matches:

1. Marc HANSEN/Ian MUNN 6 points, 13 ends, 23 stones

2. Candice RICHARDS/Dan KELLY 4 points, 12 ends, 20 stones

3. Karen WAUTERS/ Marco ETIENNE 2 points, 11 ends, 23 stones

4. Susi BENOY/Alex BENOY 0 points, 10 ends, 19 stones

The GOLD MEDAL GAME was thereafter won by MARC HANSEN and IAN MUNN by 7-5 against Candice Richards and Dan Kelly. Karen Waters and Marco Etienne won the Bronze Medal Game against Susi +and Alex Benoy by 8-4.
