On Thursday 26 November 2015, the winner of the competition organised in the summer in conjunction with the 'Luxembourg - A European History; Kirchberg, Gateway to Europe' exhibition was announced.
The annual summer exhibition was first opened in July 2015, comprising around 111 photos from the photographic library of the City of Luxembourg. This was accompanied by a competition in which participants were asked 'In which country was the first official meeting of the High Authority of the ECSC (European Coal and Steel Community)?', the answer being Luxembourg.
At Thursday's award ceremony, the College of Aldermen and the Photographic Library of Luxembourg City provided a comprehenseive collection of five books 'Trésors de la Photothèque' to the competition winner, Philippe Linster, as well as a bok from this collection to 5 other individuals: Virginia Alcantara; Conchita Espina-Ewert; Emmanuel Bock; Jos Neu; and Gaston Stammet.
The exhibition, displayed from 11 July to 13 September 2015 at the Ratskeller of the Cercle Cité, had been organised as part of the Luxembourg Presidency of the Council of the EU and aimed to demonstrate how Europe has its roots in Luxembourg, generally, and the Kirchberg district, more specifically.
