The Kanner-Elteren-Center (KEC) of the Ville de Luxembourg yesterday announced a new series of family-friendly events, following its weekend board games day, which invites children aged 5-14 and their parents to spend an afternoon cooking together at the Centre d'Animation Pédagogique et de Loisirs (CAPEL).

These 'Family Cooking' workshops, available throughout October and November 2015, will take place at the teaching kitchen at CAPEL, in the old school of Rue Laroche in Weimerskirch.

The initiative was launched by Kanner-Elteren-Center, a meeting and information point for parents and their children. The Center collates all the information for leisure and educational activities and events provided for children and offers services such as the free loan of board games throughout the year.

The workshops will be supervised by project managers of 'Richteg akafen - Gutt iessen', as well as KEC educators, and will focus on one topic per session, these being:

6 October 2015: Pumpkins
13 October 2015: Apples and Pears
20 October 2015: Fast Food
12 November 2015: Old-style vegetables
19 November 2015: Varieties of cabbage
26 November 2015: St. Nicholas Treats

Interested parties are requested to register by e-mail at kec@vdl.lu, specifying the lunch date of their choice, the name of the child and accompanying adult, the age of the child, any food allergies, and a phone number. Participation in these events is free.
