On Monday 7 September 2026, Luxembourg's Prime Minister Luc Frieden began a two-day official visit to Singapore aimed at further strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
According to the Ministry of State, the visit follows the State Visit of Singaporean President Tharman Shanmugaratnam to Luxembourg last year and the opening of the Luxembourg Embassy in Singapore in July 2026. The Prime Minister's programme focuses on space, technological innovation and finance, areas in which Luxembourg and Singapore share common ambitions and interests.
During the first day of the visit, Prime Minister Luc Frieden met his Singaporean counterpart, Lawrence Wong, before paying a courtesy visit to the President of the Republic of Singapore, Tharman Shanmugaratnam.
According to the Ministry of State, the discussions focused on major geopolitical and international issues, as well as prospects for further deepening bilateral cooperation between Luxembourg and Singapore.
The programme also included a presentation on Singapore's housing policy, an area whose challenges are of particular interest to Luxembourg.
