On Wednesday, between 07:00 and 14:00, a number of organisations participated in a full-scale exercise to test the Grouft Tunnel on the A7 motorway in Luxembourg, the "Autoroute du Nord", between Lorentzweiler and Waldhof.
The exercise took place without traffic. It was organised by the Administration des ponts et chaussées in collaboration with the Grand Ducal Police, the Administration des services de secours, professionnal fire-fighters, regional fire-fighters, with the Inspection du travail et des mines as an observer.
The purpose of this exercise, needed prior to the opening, was to test equipment and functionality of the tunnel and give the emergency services, fire, police and the Ponts et chaussées, the possibility to familiarise themselves with the work of tunnel under real conditions.
