Over the weekend, the Luxembourg Police confiscated several driving licences due to drink driving.

On Saturday evening, a woman reported that a motorist had fled after damaging her car on Route d'Esch in Belvaux. Vehicle parts remained at the scene of the accident. The police patrolled the area and found the perpetrator on Rue d'Oberkorn. Upon detection of the smell of alcohol and a positive breath test, the police withdrew the motorist's driving licence.

Similarly, at around 02:00 on the night of 1 to 2 June, a drunk driver crashed into a lamp post on Rue de la Libération in Dudelange. Unhurt, the driver fled the scene, leaving the crashed car behind. The police later found the perpetrator at his place of residence. The man stated that he had hit against the curb of a traffic island and then lost control. The smell of alcohol and subsequent positive breath test led to the driver's licence being confiscated.

Later that same night, the police confiscated licences from motorists in Mamer (Route d'Arlon around 03:30) and Troisvierges (around 04:25), whose conspicuous driving led to the discovery that they were under the influence of alcohol. The latter's breath test revealed double the maximum alcohol allowance. When checking the driver's documents, the police found that the driver was already subject to a driving ban with restrictions.

Sunday evening saw the implementation of further driving bans. First, at around 21:40, patrol officers grew suspicious of a motorist who ignored the pedestrian crossing on Rue Pierre Krier in Luxembourg-Bonnevoie. Upon inspection, the officers noted the smell of alcohol. A positive breath test led to the issuance of a provisional driving ban. In addition, police checked a driver, who already had a ministerial driving ban, in a car park in Bereldange. The police searched the vehicle upon noticing the smell of marijuana, and confiscated a small amount of drugs and related items.

At 02:30 on the night of 3 to 4 June, a caller reported to the police that a car was snaking and drove several times over the footpath in Dudelange. Patrol officers went to the location indicated and stopped the driver. Upon inspection, the officers noticed the smell of alcohol, and in a breath test, found that the driver had significantly exceeded the maximum alcohol allowance. The police withdrew the perpetrator's licence. Police inspected another driver, whose car was also snaking, at 04:00 in the morning at the Fridhaff roundabout. A positive breath test again led to the issuance of a driving ban.
