Luxembourg's Ministry of State and the Ministry of Health have announced changes to the current COVID-19 law following the Government Council meeting of Tuesday 4 January 2022.
On Tuesday, the Government Council approved a bill proposing to maintain the maximum duration of isolation at ten days for people who do not have a complete vaccination schedule or a booster vaccination carried out within six months.
If an individual who has been fully vaccinated or received a booster shot contracts COVID-19, the isolation period is set at a maximum of six days provided the concerned individual carries out two rapid antigen tests on the fifth and sixth day of isolation respectively and the result is negative on both occasions.
Moreover, the Government Council decided, in agreement with the European Commission, that the general validity period for vaccination certificates will be set at 270 days (nine months) from the date from which the vaccination schedule is considered complete.
The bill approved on Tuesday also proposes that the following people are now exempt from the obligation to test under the CovidCheck 2G+ regime (i.e. vaccinated or recovered plus a negative test result): those with a complete vaccination schedule of less than 180 days; those who have received a booster vaccination; those who have a recovery certificate.
The authorities recalled that the above changes will come into force after the law has been passed in the Chamber of Deputies.
