Since Saturday 25 December 2021, when the new law on restrictions came into force (restaurants, etc., have to close by 23:00; gatherings of 10+ people need to be CovidCheck events, etc.), there has been a certain amount of confusion concerning the new coding / terminology used, i.e. 2G, 2G+, and 3G.

Hopefully this quick guide will provide some clarification.

2G: one must present either a valid vaccination certificate or a recovery certificate, as well as identification.

2G+: in addition to 2G (above), one must also present a negative result of a test, either a rapid/antigen test carried out on site, or a valid test certificate (PCR test or certified antigen test): those who have received a booster vaccination are exempt from this obligation.

3G: one must present one of the three following options: a valid certificate of vaccination, a certificate of recovery or a negative COVID-19 test, as well as identification.

Those aged under 12 years and 2 months do not need to provide the above.
