On Tuesday 21 December 2021, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 229 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 904 fatalities (one new death since Monday) resulting from the virus to date.

229 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Tuesday from a total of 3,196 tests carried out the day before, representing 36.08 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 7.17%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases. 

The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 277.57. 

A total of 70 people are in hospital with the virus, including nineteen patients in intensive care. 

There are currently 5,541 active infections known, whilst a total of 90,813 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproduction rate in Luxembourg stands at 1.03.

A total of 1,017,782 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg to date (458,575 first doses, 399,357 second doses, 159,850 additional doses). A total of 440,325 people are now fully vaccinated.

The incidence rate (per 100,000 inhabitants) for unvaccinated individuals was 57.83; for vaccinated individuals, this was 25.64. These figures only take into consideration people who returned a positive PCR test.
