On Thursday the LCGB expressed its consternation at the l’Union des Entreprises Luxembourgeoises (UEL)’s call for a reform to the Caisse nationale de Santé (CNS) in which it would distance itself in financing and managing the CNS and pushed for contributions to only depend on the insured and the Luxembourg State.
The LCGB cautioned the UEL that the current CNS is dependent on three supporting pillars: employers, employees and the Luxembourg State.
They further claimed the good financial development of the maternity/illness insurance sector, draw upon by the UEL as a motivational tool for modernising functioning of the CNS was a clearly demonstration of the success and strength of the existing system. The LCGB subsequently sighted the UEL’s questioning of the current system as “totally unjustified”.
By contras the LCGB called for the improved management of policy holder’s fees an extension of existing benefits such as dental, ophthalmology with regards to the introduction of new reimbursement such as preventive and complementary medicine as a replacement to the operational system.
LCGB announced it will now request an meeting with the UEL for an exchange of views on this issue.
