On Monday 14 December 2020, Luxembourg trade unions the LCGB and the OGBL, the P&T union (Syndicat des P&T) and the management of POST Luxembourg signed an agreement on the renewal of its collective labour agreement.

Concluded for a period of three years, with effect from 1 January 2021, the new collective labour agreement revolves around two main axes: upgrading certain careers to allow POST to remain competitive and gain operational stability; and a complete overhaul of working hours to introduce a POST time savings record and institutionalise teleworking and thus improve the management of working time.

In order to compensate for the extended negotiation period, a single bonus will be paid to employees with the salary for the month of December 2020 in proportion to the date of hire and the occupancy rate.

Gilbert Goergen, representative of the P&T union, commented: “For the Syndicat des P&T, the efforts made for lower careers in particular were necessary. We have always worked so that the minimum wage received in a public establishment, such as POST Luxembourg, should be higher than the social minimum wage. We recognise that the improvements in terms of working conditions and the efforts made by POST Luxembourg meet our expectations, but we will continue our work with a view to collective labor agreement 4.0”.

Céline Conter, secretary of the LCGB, added: “The LCGB and its delegates are delighted to propose a new employment agreement for employees which represents a major step forward on working conditions [...]. Following employee expectations, the LCGB is proud to have been able to negotiate an increase in the meal allowance, the introduction of the time savings record, a system inspired by the time savings account, medical visits and the right to disconnect [from work]”.

Similarly, OGBL secretary Christian Sikorski stated: “This agreement is a step in the right direction, particularly with regard to improvements in wages and working conditions. The OGBL, aware of all the potential for improvements in this collective labour agreement, will immediately start preparing for the next negotiations in 2024".

Claude Olinger, Director of Human Resources of POST Luxembourg, concluded: "We welcome the agreements concluded with the social partners and I am confident that the adaptation of the new measures will contribute to the modernisation of the company".
