
On Tuesday 22 April 2025, Luxembourg's employment agency, ADEM, reported that there were 18,903 resident jobseekers available for work at the end of March 2025 and that the unemployment rate remained stable at 5.9%.
The number of available resident jobseekers registered with ADEM as of 31 March 2025 stood at 18,903, an increase of 1,249 individuals (or 7.1%) compared to March 2024.
This increase particularly affected jobseekers registered with ADEM for twelve months or more, as well as the most qualified jobseekers (higher education graduates). Regarding professions, the most significant increases were in accounting, Information Technology (IT), food production and road transport driving.
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate, calculated by STATEC, stood at 5.9%.
The number of new resident registrations remained comparable to March 2024. 2,718 residents registered with ADEM in March 2025, a decrease of thirteen, or 0.5%, compared to March 2024. The number of resident jobseekers receiving full unemployment benefit increased by 275, or 2.7%, year-on-year, reaching 10,348 as of 31 March 2025. The number of individuals benefiting from employment support measures was 4,479, similar to March 2024.
During March 2025, employers reported 3,354 vacant positions to ADEM, an increase of 7.1% compared to March 2024. The total number of positions available at the end of the month was 6,821, marking a decrease (-10.2%) compared to March 2024. This decrease mainly impacted accounting, banking and warehousing professions.
