Contern hosted the 30th edition of its Festival International de la BD (international comic book festival) over the weekend.

The event drew several thousand visitors to the village on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 July 2024. The highlight this anniversary year was a colourful, comic-themed street parade, which kicked off around 15:00 on Sunday. Various groups took part, including the Luxembourg Pipe Band, the Luxembourg Steampunk Society, Ghostbusters Luxembourg and a group dressed up in the official festival posters from the past 30 years, among others.

Throughout the weekend, visitors could once again visit an array of stands showcasing and selling comic books (and related merchandise) in various languages and get their items signed, as well as enjoy musical entertainment, food and drinks. About 50 authors were present.

The programme took place outdoors as well as in the local sports hall and church. Younger visitors could try out the bouncy castle and other games and activities.

The organisers have confirmed that the 31st edition of Contern's international comic book festival will take place on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 July 2025.
