BNE Awards

The BNE Awards, to be held in 2026, is a new competition designed to engage young people in climate action and education for sustainable development.

According to the ministries, this first new initiative, in collaboration with the Department for the Coordination of Educational and Technological Research and Innovation (SCRIPT), aims to raise awareness of climate change and encourage participants aged six to twenty-five to contribute ideas and projects that promote environmental protection.

Participants may enter as a group and minors must be accompanied by a tutor from a school, day-care centre, youth centre or association.

Registrations for this project are open until Wednesday 26 November 2025 inclusive and completed projects must be submitted by 8 May 2026. The award ceremony will take place at the end of the school year in June 2026.

BNE Days 2026

The ministries also announced that the from 16 to 20 March 2026, Luxembourg will host the first-ever BNE Days, a national week dedicated to education for sustainable development.

The initiative is being organised in close cooperation between the Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity, the Directorate for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Action, and the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth, including the National Institute for Education, the National Youth Service and SCRIPT.

The new BNE Days concept is built around three main pillars: BNE Networking, BNE Training and BNE Youth, which together aim to connect organisations, provide learning opportunities for educators and highlight youth engagement in sustainability. The programme will feature workshops, visits, exhibitions, rallies and challenges across the country, encouraging schools, day-care centres and youth houses to participate. Individuals or organisations wishing to propose a stand, training session or youth activity may register by Monday 10 November 2025 via www.bne.lu.
