Luxembourg’s Petro-Center Group recently announced the inauguration of its 100th BestCharge fast charging point, which is located in Mondorf-les-Bains.

The Petro-Center Group specialises in the energy sector in Luxembourg, and with BestCharge, the group is developing a fast and accessible charging network throughout the country.

Luxembourg’s Minister of the Economy, SMEs, Energy and Tourism, Lex Delles, together with Mondorf-les-Bains Mayor Steve Reckel attended the ceremony on Tuesday 12 November 2024 that celebrated the 16th public charging hub for electric vehicles in Luxembourg.

Mayor Reckel and Mike Molling, of Energiekooperativ Kanton Réimech (EKR), stated that the Mondorf-les-Bains charging station is the result of close collaboration with the Municipal Administration and EKR and symbolises the municipality's commitment to cleaner mobility. They expressed their enthusiasm for this project, described as a sustainable initiative serving the community.

The charging station is made up of six stations, including four with alternating current (AC) of 11 kW and two with direct current (DC) of 50 kW, thus providing a high-performance infrastructure for electric and hybrid vehicles. In addition, the municipality has installed a 64 kWp photovoltaic power plant on the roofs of the primary school, strengthening the site's renewable energy supply. This collective commitment reportedly supports the citizens and visitors of Mondorf-les-Bains by offering them convenient access to 100% green charging solutions.

With this 100th charging point, Petro-Center, through its BestCharge brand, is reported to be consolidating its position as the number one fast charging network in Luxembourg, with a diversified offering of terminals ranging from 50 kW to 400 kW. Currently, Petro-Center also operates the largest charging hub in the Grand Duchy in Mertert, with a total power of 3,000 kW. This expansion will continue the objective of reaching nearly 200 public fast charging points by the end of 2025, while strengthening the public network of AC terminals for optimal charging, both for the public and for businesses.
