On Wednesday 6 April 2022, Luxembourg's Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Jean Asselborn, announced that Luxembourg has decided (today) to declare persona non grata a diplomat from the Russian Embassy in Luxembourg, whose activities are contrary to Luxembourg's security interests.

Minister Asselborn confirmed that this person, who has not been identified by name or by position they hold at the embassy, must leave Luxembourg within fifteen days.

The action is part of a European approach and was taken under Article 9 of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
