The US Embassy in Luxembourg has announced that it welcomed Anthony Baird as Chargé d'Affaires ad interim on Monday 21 July 2025.
Anthony Baird, who succeeds Michael Konstantino, will lead the US Embassy in the Ambassador's absence and will assume the role of Deputy Chief of Mission once the new US Ambassador to Luxembourg is officially accredited.
"It is a privilege to assume the role of Chargé d'Affaires a.i. in Luxembourg. I look forward to deepening our economic partnerships, strengthening our shared security and building even stronger ties between our two countries. I am committed to working closely with our partners here to achieve meaningful results that benefit both our nations, and to truly getting to know this remarkable country and its people," said Mr Baird.
According to the US Embassy, Anthony Baird is a seasoned diplomat with over 20 years of experience. Most recently, he served in Washington, DC, covering relations with Central Europe. His previous assignments include postings in Switzerland, Morocco, Azerbaijan, Albania and Georgia. He has also served as Director for NATO and Western European Affairs at the National Security Council in the White House. He speaks multiple languages, including French, Russian and Arabic, and is said to be looking forward to learning Luxembourgish during his time in the Grand Duchy.
