The LCGB trade union has published a list of what they deem to be four essential conditions to protect the health of employees in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
Following various videoconferences between the Minister of Labour, Dan Kersch, the UEL and the trade union organisations regarding a successive restart of the activities of the various economic sectors, the LCGB has stressed the paramount importance from a transition from confinement to effective pandemic management and control as well as being socially and economically sustainable. They state that the strategy chosen by the government will have to be consistent by protecting the health of all citizens and by supporting wage earners after the health crisis.
For a gradual and well-considered recovery, the LCGB has proposed four conditions to protect the health of employees in the Grand Duchy, as follows:
• adopt a Grand-Ducal regulation which explicitly lists all the rules and precautions to be taken for the prevention and protection of the health of employees and to ensure its strict application;
• introduce mandatory COVID-19 tests before returning to work;
• strict application of the right of withdrawal for all employees facing any form of risk in relation to their health and safety (Labour Code Art. L. 312-4. Paragraph 4);
• more active involvement of the social partners in the preparations for the start-up phase.
