The Grand Ducal Police have reported that the police were notified of just over 45 incidents of disputes and disturbances of the peace nationwide across Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 February 2026.

According to the police, the reports mainly concerned excessively loud music, noisy individuals in public spaces or in private residences, as well as cases of domestic violence. In most instances, tempers were calmed or the persons concerned showed understanding. However, in several cases, the individuals could not be calmed at the scene and were taken into police custody to sober up.

At approximately 11:50 on Saturday 21 February, a case of domestic violence between former partners was reported in Esch-sur-Alzette. On the instructions of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, a report for assault occasioning bodily harm was drawn up and an eviction order was issued.

That same day at approximately 22:50, the police were notified of an aggressive individual on Boulevard Royal in Luxembourg-Ville. According to initial information, the person was visibly intoxicated and allegedly attempted to assault Luxtram security staff. The individual was restrained by security personnel until officers arrived. Owing to his intoxicated state, officers deemed he posed a danger to himself and others and, following a medical examination, was placed in a police holding cell to sober up.

Then shortly before midnight on Sunday, a dispute between two individuals was reported in the street on Route de Luxembourg in Junglinster. Upon arrival, officers encountered a person with minor injuries. Initial information indicated that a minor physical altercation occurred during the dispute between the couple. In the course of the incident, the man smashed the front passenger window with his hand, sustaining injuries in the process. He behaved provocatively and threateningly towards the officers and was restrained for further procedural measures and taken to the police station. When his handcuffs were removed, he attacked an officer, punching him in the face. The man was placed in a police holding cell and an eviction order as well as reports for assault and resisting arrest were drawn up.
