The Fondatioun Kriibskrank Kanner, which has supported sick children and their families for more than 35 years, has announced its main upcoming awareness and fundraising events.
On the occasion of International Childhood Cancer Day on Sunday 15 February 2026, the foundation is inviting the public to join its commitment to offer affected children the best possible future prospects. According to the foundation, this date serves to raise awareness, explain and remind, as well as listen, understand and “remain deeply human”, so that no one faces illness alone.
The Fondatioun Kriibskrank Kanner has called on the public not to forget sick children and highlighted that “every year children and adolescents in Luxembourg and the Greater Region face cancer, with major consequences for their entire families”.
According to the foundation, 100 children are diagnosed with cancer in Europe every day, of whom less than 10% gain access to innovative treatment, and nearly 6,000 children die from cancer in Europe each year.
“Paediatric cancer is rare but the ordeal it imposes is immense. Behind every diagnosis is a childhood turned upside down and a family that needs support today and in the long term,” underlined Pierre Dochen, Director of the Fondatioun Kriibskrank Kanner.
Moreover, on Wednesday 15 April 2026, the foundation will organise the “LËTZ GO RESEARCH” conference at Arendt House in Luxembourg-Kirchberg, bringing together paediatric oncology stakeholders to present research progress, challenges and recent results.
The Fondatioun Kriibskrank Kanner also highlighted the ninth edition of the “LËTZ GO GOLD” solidarity race, which will take place on Saturday 26 September 2026 in Neudorf, offering the public the opportunity to support research.
Funds raised will support the Fight Kids Cancer initiative, which aims to “cure all children and adolescents with cancer through the development of better targeted and less toxic therapies”.
In 2025, the Fondatioun Kriibskrank Kanner provided emotional, administrative and financial, psychological, social and educational support to 149 children and their families, including 42 new patients aged up to eighteen years.
