On Tuesday 28 July 2026, SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde (SOSVEM) reported that BorgWarner Luxembourg had donated €2,000 raised during its 2026 Cook & Donate charity event to support vulnerable children in Colombia.
According to SOSVEM, the fundraising initiative took place on 18 June 2026 and was organised by BorgWarner Luxembourg's works council. Employees volunteered their time to prepare traditional dishes from their home countries, which were then sold to colleagues in support of the organisation.
A few weeks later, representatives of BorgWarner welcomed Anne Schweizer, Partnership Manager at SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde, to the company's site in Hautcharage for a cheque presentation. She thanked the company for its long-standing support.
SOSVEM noted that, following several successful fundraising campaigns, the latest initiative once again demonstrated the commitment of BorgWarner employees to supporting the organisation's mission of protecting children's rights and improving the lives of vulnerable children. Since 2023, BorgWarner has donated more than €10,000 to SOSVEM for projects in Morocco and, more recently, Colombia.
According to the organisation, this year's donation will support a project launched in Cali in the summer of 2025 to promote the protection, well-being and healthy development of children and young people from Venezuelan migrant families and Colombian host families living in a municipality facing complex social challenges.
Over a two-year period, around 100 parents or guardians will benefit from measures designed to help them become more self-sufficient in caring for their children.
SOSVEM added that it has been active in Colombia for 55 years, supporting families through programmes focused on child protection, family strengthening, education and social inclusion. Since 2018, the organisation has also assisted Venezuelan refugees and worked to strengthen social cohesion between migrant and host communities.
