Luxembourg's Ministry of the Economy has updated the list of accommodation establishments participating in the official star classification system.
Since 2017, all hotels and campsites in Luxembourg have been able to voluntarily participate in an official classification system established by the Ministry of the Economy in collaboration with professional organisations in the sector. Valid for four years, the classification is established according to the quality, services, equipment and accommodation standards of the establishments concerned.
On Thursday 21 March 2024, Luxembourg's Minister Delegate for Tourism, Eric Thill, presented the managers of the Kazakiwi Hotel with the crest which is displayed at the entrance to classified establishments. The validity of the classifications of Ibis styles and Bristol hotels has been extended.
"Currently, 74 hotels and eighteen campsites participate in the official star classification system for accommodation establishments in Luxembourg," Minister Delegate Eric Thill stated. "The classification has advantages for professionals and for clients. For the latter, it is a simple and understandable system which allows them to better guide their choice. Hotel and campsite managers can integrate the rating obtained into their marketing and communication strategy to better target their customers."
Based on precise and objective criteria, the system allows hotels and campsites to be classified from 1 star to 5 stars. Where applicable, the ranking is supplemented by the mention "Superior" which designates leading accommodation establishments in their category.
As of Friday 22 March 2024, the list of hotels classified in Luxembourg is as follows:
5 stars category - Superior: 3
5 stars category: 1
4 stars category - Superior: 8
4 stars category: 23
3 stars category - Superior: 12
3 stars category: 24
2 stars category - Superior: 3
2 stars category: 0
1 star category - Superior: 0

Eighteen campsites are classified in Luxembourg as follows:
5 stars category: 1

The guidelines and terms of classification have been developed and are implemented by Horesca (the national federation of hoteliers, restaurateurs and cafe owners) and the Ministry of the Economy which ensures uniform application of standards at the national level.
