Several Arrests Made Across Luxembourg for Burglary, Restraining Order Breaches & Drug Offence

The Grand Ducal Police have reported a number of arrests across Luxembourg on Thursday 21 and Friday 22 August 2025, relating to various offences, including burglary, breaches of restraining orders and a drug-related incident.

On the afternoon of Thursday 21 August 2025, police received a report of a shoplifter at a store on Avenue de la Gare in Luxembourg City's Gare district. Officers located the suspect shortly after and, upon verifying his identity, discovered that a European arrest warrant had been issued against him. The public prosecutor was informed and ordered the suspect's arrest.

Later that same afternoon, another incident of shoplifting was reported at a store on Rue de Beggen in Luxembourg-Beggen, where three individuals allegedly stole several pairs of glasses. Police patrols were able to detain two of the suspects at the scene, while a third was apprehended shortly afterwards and was also suspected of having committed theft at a nearby supermarket. The public prosecutor ordered the arrest of all three suspects, who were scheduled to appear before an investigating judge on the morning of Friday 22 August 2025.

Separately, the police have launched investigations into a series of recent burglaries. On the evening of Thursday 21 August 2025, one or more unknown individuals reportedly gained entry to a detached house on Rue Jean Marcatoris in Helmsange via a patio door. The perpetrators allegedly ransacked the property before fleeing the scene.

In a similar incident, a burglary was reported at a flat in a multi-family residential building on Avenue Victor Hugo in Luxembourg City. Unknown individuals reportedly entered the premises and searched several rooms, stealing various items including jewellery. Investigations are ongoing in both cases.

Additionally, the police have received multiple reports of thefts from vehicles. In one case, during the night of 22 August 2025, an unidentified individual allegedly broke into a vehicle parked on Rue de la Gare in Bettange-sur-Mess, stole loose change and searched the car's interior. That same night, a separate incident occurred on Rue Nicolas Mersch in Fentange, where items including a pair of sunglasses and a charging cable were reported stolen from a parked vehicle. Investigations have been opened in both cases.
