The Grand Ducal Police have reported that around 200 people took part in two officially authorised protests against COVID-19 measures in Luxembourg-Ville on Saturday.

On Saturday 29 January 2022, police officers were present in the capital to supervise the two approved demonstrations in the restricted protest zone planned between Glacis car park in Luxembourg-Limpertsberg and Place de l'Europe in Luxembourg-Kirchberg, on the one hand, and to be able to intervene in the event of unauthorised gatherings or disturbances to public order, on the other hand.

The first protesters gathered in Glacis from 13:45. Around one hour later, a procession of around 200 people, supervised by the police, set off from Glacis through the protest zone towards Place de l'Europe. At around 16:00, this gathering returned to Glacis and dissolved around one hour later. During this protest, Boulevard Robert Schumann was temporarily blocked. Tram traffic was interrupted for about ten minutes.

According to the police, the two approved demonstrations took place peacefully and without incident. There were no unauthorised gatherings on this occasion.
