With data from the Covid-19 database, the number of infections on Thursday 19 March 2019 in Luxembourg stood at 53.5 per 100,000.

On Thursday morning, Luxembourg had 335 reported infections and four people had died having contracted Coronavirus.

With the figure for Italy at 59.1 per 100,000 population, Luxembourg stands second highest, ahead of Spain at 31.6 and Iran at 20.7, also South Korea, France and The Netherlands, with China way back pn 5.6 per 100,000 population.

Luxembourg today announced that schools would remain closed until after the Easter holidays, i.e. 20 April, and all passenger flights in and out of Luxembourg airport (except emergency repatriations from abroad of Luxembourg residents) will cease next Monday 23 March.

All restaurants are now closed and can only offer take-aways and home deliveries. Supermarkets and other food shops are remaining open but are allowing only reduced numbers in their shops at a time to actively promote social distancing (of 2 metres). Some other shops are open for collection of online orders, but most other shops are now closed. Most companies, businesses and administrations have most staff working from home and social interaction is actively discouraged. All cafés, pubs and clubs are closed.

The Luxembourg government is announcing additional measures daily in an attempt to reduce the spread of Coronavirus, as well as announcing measures to try to protect the economy.
