A steel worker in Differdange was left with serious injuries yesterday afternoon after trapping his leg at a steel plant on Rue Woiver.

The incident occurred just before 17:00, as workers at the plant were in the process of laying railroad tracks with the help of an excavator. Two workers were on hand to stabilise the rail during the transportation process. However, as material was pulled with the digger, the rail track turned over, catching the leg of one of the workers underneath it. The leg became trapped between another metal rail, and was seriously damaged in the process.

The worker was taken to hospital to be treated for his injuries.
