The Grand Ducal Police have reported that two driving bans were issued following drink-driving incidents which occurred in Lintgen and Esch-sur-Alzette in the early hours of Wednesday 9 September 2026.
According to the police, shortly after midnight on Wednesday the police received a report of a vehicle driving erratically on Route Principale in Lintgen, with its driver possibly under the influence of alcohol. A short time later, the police located and stopped the vehicle in Mersch. A breathalyser test returned a positive result. A driving ban was issued and a corresponding report was drawn up.
Also in the early hours of Wednesday, police officers noticed a vehicle driving with screeching tyres on Place de la Paix in Esch-sur-Alzette. An initial attempt to stop the vehicle was ignored, prompting the officers to give chase. The vehicle was stopped two streets away on Rue Emile Mayrisch and the driver was checked. As the driver showed clear signs of alcohol consumption, a breathalyser test was administered. The test returned a positive result, and a driving ban was subsequently issued. A corresponding report was drawn up.
