On Wednesday 9 September 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported a man was arrested and several fines were issued following large-scale checks in Diekirch and Ettelbruck on Friday 4 September.
According to the police, in the late afternoon and evening of Friday 4 September, the police carried out large-scale checks at the railway stations and in the pedestrian zones in Diekirch and Ettelbruck. The focus was on drug and immigration legislation as well as maintaining a general police presence.
As part of the checks, three fixed-penalty notices and seven reports were issued for violations of the drug law, among other things. Small quantities of drugs were also seized and confiscated.
Moreover, one person was arrested for intoxication and disturbing the public peace, while another person was the subject of an alert. An immigration notice was issued against this person, and they were subjected to identification procedures.
A total of seventeen police officers and one drug-sniffing dog, as well as two officers from the Belgian police, took part in the checks.
