In the early hours of Saturday morning, two more petrol stations were broken into and merchandise stolen in a continuation of the recent series of petrol stations burglaries that have been taking place across Luxembourg.
Last week two petrol stations in Rosport and Junglinster were broken into in the early hours of Thursday morning, thought to have been carried out by the same group of perpetrators.
At around 03:30 on Saturday 8 August 2015, the sliding door of a petrol station on Rue de Luxembourg in Esch-Alzette was forced open, with the intruders taking several cigarette packets off the shelves and putting them into bags. The perpetrators then fled.
Twenty minutes later, at around 03:50, a similar incident occurred in a petrol station along Route d'Esch, with the items stolen again being cigarettes.
The group was comprised of three men, who have been described by Police with the following:
- Male 1: Of North African descent, with a narrow frame. He was wearing dark-coloured sweatpants with a white striped pattern, dark-coloured shoes and a dark T-shirt with a white stripe across the back. His hair was close-cropped along the sides and longer on top.
- Male 2: Of North African descent, with a narrow frame. Wearing black trousers, black shoes and a black T-shirt with 'P3' written on it in yellow. His hair was also close cropped along the sides with a longer length on top.
- Male 3: Of North African descent. Narrow frame, wearing blue trousers with a white striped pattern on the outside of the trouser leg and a white T-shirt.
Due to the similar nature of the crimes on both Thursday and Saturday and the short time lapse between the third and fourth break-ins, the Police have reported they are treating all four burglaries as having been carried out by the same group.
