During the night between 5 and 6 August 2015, two petrol stations in Rosport and Junglinster were broken into, with both crimes appearing to have been executed by the same perpetrators.
In each case, the doors of the petrol station were forcefully broken in before the perpetrators rushed in, stealing cigarettes and food items from inside.
The Grand Ducal Police suspect that both cases were carried out by the same group of three men, and have released the following descriptions of each of the group members:
- Male 1: dark-skinned; thought to be of African origin; around 1.80 metres tall; between 25 and 30 years old; with short black curly hair; wearing short white trousers, a black T-shirt with white lettering and a baseball cap
- Male 2: tanned skin; thought to be of African origin, around 1.80 metres tall; between 25 and 30 years old; with a beard and wearing a grey sweatshirt with dark jeans
- Male 3: dark-skinned, thought to be of North-African origin, also around 1.80 metres tall and between 25 and 30 years old, with a 3-day black beard; wearing a black T-shirt marked with white diamonds, black Adidas sweatpants and black trainers.
Th Police also released several photos taken with a surveillance camera inside the petrol station, in which no employee can be seen, suggesting the petrol station was closed during the period the crime was committed. The crimes form part of a recent surge in break-ins, reported earlier today by Chronicle.lu, which have taken place across the Grand Duchy in recent weeks.
The Grand Ducal Police have made an appeal for members of the public to come forward with any information that could help the investigation. Those who think they may be able to identify the individuals in the photographs or have information concerning the incident are asked to contact SREC Grevenmacher at 4997-7800 or on the emergency hotline 113.
