The Ville de Luxembourg today announced that from the evening of 12 August until 17 August 2015, construction work will be underway at the Côte d'Eich on a metallic bridge connecting the Pfaffenthal lift to Pescatore park.

The first phase of work, from the night of Wednesday 12 August until Friday 14 August 2015, will involve the blocking of the pavement and the right-hand lane into town for a length of about 50 metres to the entrance of Boulevard Paul Eyschen towards the City Centre.

From 22:00 on Friday 14 August until 05:00 on Monday 17 August 2015, the second phase of assembly work will be underway, involving the depositing of the 32 metre element in the park by crane, ready to be equipped in the coming months with metal cladding and attached to the structure spanning the Côte d'Eich.

The period between 14 and 17 August 2015 will therefore necessitate the total closure of the Côte d'Eich. Traffic wishing to leave the city will therefore be redirected from Boulevard Royal to the southern part of Côte d'Eich, via Avenue Porte-Neuve, Avenue Victor Hugo and Rue des Glacis.

Motorists heading into the City will be redirected to Limpertsberg, and will be able to follow the route from Place D'Argent to the southern part of Côte d'Eich, through Rue des Glacis, Allée Scheffer, Avenue Pasteur and finally Avenue de la Porte-Neuve.

For all other destinations, a recommended direction will be established at Place D'Argent to guide motorists through Rue de Muhlenbach and Rue de Rollingergrund to Place de l'Etoile.

Regarding public transport, bus lines 10, 11 and 12 heading towards Place D'Argent will be diverted via Avenue de la Porte-Neuve, Robert Schumann roundabout and Rue des Glacis to reach the southern part of Côte d'Eich. The 'Badanstalt Quai 1' stop will be avoided and replaced with the 'Hamilius Quai 1' (lines 10 and 11), 'Royal 1' (line 12) and 'Fondation Pescatore Quai 1' stops.

Heading in the opposite direction, bus lines 10, 11 and 12 will be redirected from the southern part of Côte d'Eich via Rue des Glacis and Robert Schumann roundabout to reach Avenue de la Porte-Neuve and Boulevard Royal. In this case the 'Badanstalt Quai 1' stop will also be avoided and replaced with the 'Fondation Pescatore Quai 2', 'Royal 2' (line 12) and 'Hamilius Quai 2' (lines 10 and 11) stops.

The Service de la Circulation of the Ville de Luxembourg has guaranteed that there will be clear and proper signage of the detour route in place.
