From 12 February to 11 April 2021, members of the public will be able to visit the exhibition "Ready. Set. Design." at Cercle Cité in Place d'Armes in Luxembourg-Ville.

This upcoming exhibition pays tribute to the scenography and the sets in Luxembourgish productions and co-productions produced between 1980 and 2020. It attempts to analyse the significance of cinema decor through different perspectives and traces the different stages of the creation of a scenography from the screenplay to the final cut, through the establishment of an artistic and visual concept by the directors and chief decorators among others. The exhibition gives a voice to representatives of the various professions of Luxembourgish cinema and highlights their creative and artistic work through their testimonies.

By analysing decor, the exhibition also aims to tell an “different” story of Luxembourgish cinema since the 1980s.

Lastly, the exhibition is an analysis of the way Luxembourgish filmmakers look at their own country. What kinds of stories are located in which region, environment or landscape of the Grand Duchy? Which cinematographic images and representations are linked to which places and the people who inhabit them?

"Ready. Set. Design." is produced by the curators Paul Lesch, Director of the Centre National de l'Audiovisuel (CNA), Yves Steichen and Chiara Lentz (both also from CNA), in partnership with Cercle Cité and with the support of the Luxembourg City Film Festival. The exhibition will be punctuated by several illustrations (sketches, plans, "mood books", posters, film extracts, filmed testimonies, etc.) to allow visitors to immerse themselves in the settings and the cinematographic illusion "Made in Luxembourg".

The opening will take place on Thursday 11 February 2021 from 18:00 to 21:00 at the Ratskeller exhibition space (Rue du Curé), in accordance with the sanitary measures in force.
