A member of the Art Work Circle, Luxembourg-based artist Ben Carter has launched a new line of sculptural work.
As part of a crowd-funding campaign, members of the public have the opportunity to become patrons: 25 minimum orders will allow the artist to start production of a new series of miniature sculptures inspired by the blast furnaces of Esch-Belval. Each order placed includes a complimentary poster and set of 4 postcards.
The idea for the new series of miniature sculptures was borne out of a commission by ArcelorMittal for a series of sculptures to be presented to former directors for their loyal service to the company prior to retirement. The steel sculptures are created using an industrial process including laser cutting and are dipped in acid to create the rust effect.
In 2006, the artist participated in an exhibition at Rockhal in which he showed 60 paintings and sculptures inspired by the steel industry.
