On Saturday 12 September 2026, the Art Centre Dominique Lang and the Nei Liicht Art Centre in Dudelange will host the openings of the Deceptively Quiet exhibition by Luxembourg-based photographer Véronique Kolber, and the elemɛnˈtaːɐ̯ exhibition by Luxembourgish artist Max Mertens.
The opening of the exhibitions will begin at each venue at 11:30 and each exhibition will be open to the public from Saturday 12 September to Sunday 8 November 2026, Wednesday to Sunday between the hours of 15:00 and 19:00.
Véronique Kolber is an independent photographer based in Mullendorf, Luxembourg. She studied photography at Le 75 in Brussels (1998–2001), followed by a Master’s degree in Visual Arts from the Université Marc Bloch in Strasbourg (2002–2005). Her work has received numerous distinctions, including the Découvertes – Jeunes Talents Award from the Centre National de l’Audiovisuel (CNA) for Reflections, a nomination for the Robert Schuman Art Prize for Moving Through Time – On the Discovery of Disappearance, a shortlist selection for the Images Vevey Book Award 2025/26 for the Deceptively Quiet book dummy, and, most recently, a nomination for the 2026 Prix de la Photographie at the Cité de l’Image in Clervaux for the project What Waits Unseen.
Max Mertens is a Luxembourgish contemporary artist, born in Luxembourg in 1982. He studied Art and Communicative Practice at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, where he worked in the class of the renowned Austrian artist Erwin Wurm. Since 2003, Mertens has exhibited regularly in Luxembourg and internationally, particularly in Austria and Germany, and in 2007 he was nominated for the Robert Schuman Art Prize. His practice encompasses drawing, sculpture and installation, with a particular interest in questioning conventional ideas about sculpture, space and the relationship between artwork and viewer.
