Amateur and serious photographers in Luxembourg are being invited to illustrate urban life as part of the photo contest SinCityPics Nordstad.
The competition has been organised by the Luxembourg Centre for Architecture (LUCA), the Centre des Arts Pluriels Ettelbruck (CAPE) and Nordstad as a means of discovering the many ways in which users take ownership of their urban environment in the six municipalities of Colmar-Berg, Schieren, Ettelbruck, Diekirch, Bettendorf and Erpeldange. The point to be emphasised is the centrality of citizens and their role in the use of public space.
There are different catagories within the competition to target various demographics, such as young people and adults. Photographs do not have to be captured on a professional camera, and participants can submit entries taken on a mobile phone. Instead, it is the originality, unique moment, the poetic aspect and the creative idea which will be evaluated rather than the technological feat.
Photos should be submitted on 24 April 2016, with an award ceremony and exhibition opening planned for 19:00 on 16 June 2016 at CAPE. For more information and to register, visit www.sincitypics.lu.
