On Tuesday 22 and Wednesday 23 July 2025, Luxembourg's Minister of the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity, Serge Wilmes, visited Ljubljana, where he met his Slovenian counterpart, Bojan Kumer, Minister of the Environment, Climate and Energy.

As reported by Luxembourg's Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity, the two ministers praised the "excellent" bilateral relations between their countries and reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening cooperation in the areas of international climate finance, research related to environmental protection, the fight against climate change, knowledge exchange and strategic communication.

A letter of intent was signed between the two ministries, marking "an important step" in the development of their partnership. The agreement provides for enhanced cooperation in the following areas:

  • adaptation to climate change and strengthening resilience;
  • communication of environmental and climate policies, particularly to combat disinformation;
  • exchange of experiences in climate services;
  • exploration of avenues for joint cooperation on climate finance in the Balkans.

According to Luxembourg's Environment Ministry, this visit demonstrates the Grand Duchy's commitment to strengthening its European partnerships and actively contributing to a just and sustainable ecological transition.
