The Philippe Starck-designed hotel "Maison Heler" recently opened its doors across the border in Metz (France).

Located in Metz’s Amphitheatre neighbourhood, the design of the 4-star hotel is based on the life of the fictional character, Manfred Heler, from Philippe Starck's book The Meticulous Life of Manfred Heler. The nine-storey building features 104 rooms and suites and two restaurants.

The ground floor of the hotel contains the La Cuisine de Rose brasserie and features decorative elements which reflect the designs of Philippe Starck’s imagined inventor. The second restaurant, La Maison de Manfred, resides on the roof of the building. Its design mimics the look of a 19th-century Metz mansion, featuring stained-glass windows designed by Philippe Starck’s daughter, Ara, and offers views of the Centre Pompidou and Metz’s Amphitheatre district.

The hotel also features five spaces, covering 300m², which are designed to host conferences, seminars and private events.

Maison Heler has described itself as "a symbol of the past, present and future, united in a timeless artistic statement, built in perfect symbiosis with the cultural, social, economic and environmental development of the neighbourhood".

Operated by the Hilton Group, the hotel is located at 31 Rue Jacques Chirac, Metz (France).
