A meeting between Luxembourg Minister for Foreign and European Affairs, Jean Asselborn, and Swiss Federal Councillor and Head of the Federal Department of Justice and Police (DJP), Simonette Sommaruga, on Friday 15 April 2016 enabled the two politicians to take stock of the relations between Switzerland and the European Union.
Minister Asselborn's visit to Zurich also addressed the international refugee crisis and the application of the agreement between the EU and Turkey, before the Minister and Federal Councillor Sommaruga visited the centre where new accelerated asylum procedures are tested.
In the presence of State Councillor Mario Fehr, head of the cantonal Directorate of Security, and councilmen Raphael Golta, head of the Department of Social Affairs of Zurich, the political figures were able to take stock of the new procedures in place, deeming them faster, more accurate and less expensive.
