SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde has received a cheque for €50,000 from the Banque Internationale à Luxembourg S.A. (BIL) which will go towards providing educational support for children and a skills enhancement programme for teachers at the SOS Kindergarten in Dosso, Niger.
The handing over of the cheque, held on 17 February 2016 between BIL CEO, Hugues Delcourt, and SOSVE Managing Director, Sophie Glesener, marked the beginning of a partnership between the two organisations, built on a mutual interest in and promotion of education.
SOS Children's Villages, of which SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde forms part, is an international NGO dedicated to supporting orphans and abandoned children and disadvantaged children across more than 130 countries. The financial contribution will help support Dosso's SOS Kindergarten in its aim to strengthen the local community by enabling mothers to concentrate on their work whilst their children are cared for in the kindergarten.
"We are particularly happy that BIL is firmly supporting the many SOS projects intended to ensure the well-being of the most vulnerable children by providing them with a caring environment and a high-quality education that will offer them a better future," commented Sophie Glesener as she thanked the BIL team for their dedication.
"We share many values with SOS Villages d'Enfants," explained Hugues Delcourt. "Any reflection on sustainable development must be a long-term undertaking. There is an obvious need for access to education and support for vulnerable children. Today's children are tomorrow's citizens. We have been impressed by the quality of the projects undertaken and the commitment of the teams. We are delighted to support them."
Part of the donation will be provided to the SOS-Kannerduerf Lëtzebuerg non-profit organisation.
