Luxembourg’s Klima-Agence will host the official part of Klimapakt Day 2026 (Climate Pact Day 2026) on Friday 8 May 2026 at Cercle Cité in Luxembourg-Ville, in the presence of Luxembourg’s Minister for the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity, Serge Wilmes.

According to Klima-Agence, the event will run from 13:45 to 17:00 and gather more than 200 participants from Luxembourg’s municipal sector. This year’s edition will focus on climate change adaptation and the role municipalities play in strengthening resilience to the effects of climate change.

The agency noted that municipalities play an important role in adapting to climate change and that Klimapakt Day offers offers an opportunity to share concrete examples and measures in this area.

Following technical sessions in the morning for municipal employees and climate advisers, the afternoon programme will include presentations on climate change adaptation in municipalities, including a keynote speech by German expert Katharina Schätz, as well as a presentation on the national climate adaptation strategy and action plan by expert Elena Metzdorf.

The programme will also feature the Solar Challenge award ceremony and the presentation of Klimapakt certifications to 47 municipalities, including, for the first time, the thematic certification for “Climate Change Adaptation”.
