On Wednesday 6 May 2026, Luxembourg-based satellite connectivity provider OQ Technology announced it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with drone and autonomous systems company LUXUAV to explore joint business opportunities in satellite-enabled UAV, defence and High-Altitude Platform System (HAPS) applications.

OQ Technology said the partnership establishes a framework for collaboration in the rapidly evolving field of Non-Terrestrial Network communications, focusing on integrating satellite connectivity into advanced aerial platforms for mission-critical and tactical applications.

Under the partnership, OQ Technology and LUXUAV will collaborate on advancing Low Earth Orbit (LEO) 5G NTN satellite connectivity for UAV and HAPS platforms through joint technology development, operational validation, customer field demonstrations, and the exploration of mission-critical, governmental and sovereignty-oriented applications.

OQ Technology said: “This partnership highlights the growing importance of hybrid connectivity solutions that combine terrestrial and satellite networks to ensure resilient communications in remote, contested or infrastructure-limited environments.”

Omar Qaise, Founder and CEO of OQ Technology, remarked: “OQ Technology continues to push the boundaries of 5G NTN and D2D innovation by enabling connectivity where it is needed most. Our collaboration with LUXUAV represents an important step toward integrating satellite connectivity into next-generation UAV and aerial systems, unlocking new capabilities for mission-critical operations. With our LEO satellite constellation and S- and C-band spectrum coverage, we are well suited to connect unmanned machines on air, land, and sea.”

Nicolas Zharov, CEO of LUXUAV, said: “Partnering with OQ Technology adds a critical space-based connectivity layer to our airborne communication infrastructure, helping ensure resilient and sovereign communications across aerial and remote operations. This collaboration between two Luxembourg-based companies demonstrates the strength of our national ecosystem in delivering advanced aerospace and connectivity solutions for Europe.

OQ Technology added that the collaboration reflected a shared vision to accelerate the adoption of 5G Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) as a key enabler for autonomous systems, defence communications and next-generation aerospace infrastructure.

On Wednesday 25 February 2026 OQ Technology received €25 million in venture debt financing from the European Investment Bank (EIB) to support its growth and technology development.
